Ingredients
For BBQ Maple Syrup Cupcakes
- 1 1/4 cups pure maple syrup
- 1/2 cup BBQ sauce (I suggest a thick, sweet, and smoky sauce)
- 1 3/4 cups all-purpose flour
- 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
- 1/2 cup unsalted butter, room temperature
- 2 large eggs, room temperature
- 1/2 cup water, room temperature
For Maple Buttercream Frosting
- 1 cup unsalted butter, room temperature
- 3 cups powdered sugar
- 1/2 cup pure maple syrup
Instructions
For BBQ Maple Syrup Cupcakes
- Preheat oven to 350 F.
- In a medium-sized mixing bowl, mix maple syrup, BBQ sauce, flour, baking soda, and butter until fully combined.
- Mix in eggs, one at a time.
- Mix in water until fully combined.
- Bake for 20 minutes or until a toothpick inserted into the center of a cupcake comes out clean.
Maple Buttercream Frosting
- In a medium-sized mixing bowl, beat butter until light and fluffy (about 3 minutes on high speed).
- Mix in powdered sugar a little bit at a time.
- Mix in maple syrup.
- Spread or pipe on cooled cupcakes.
